A
TALE OF 2 CITIES
OR
HOW TO BECOME A CHRISTIAN

| There once was two cities.
One city was on fire and everyone in the city would
soon be destroyed. The other was a beautiful
city and there wasn't any destruction there. |
|
|
| The good King of the beautiful
city saw the plight of the people in the burning
city and had compassion on them and built a great
bridge from the city of destruction to His beautiful
city. |
|
|
| One person trying to escape from
the flames came to the bridge and said.
"Mmmm someone has built a bridge so that I can
escape from the flames, but I don't know if I trust
that bridge or not. It might not hold me up.
Besides that I am the kind of person that likes to
do it himself, and I am a pretty good runner and
jumper, I will just get a good run and jump across
all by myself".
Well he ran and jumped, but fell short of
making it to the beautiful city and his efforts did
not save him and he was destroyed.

| Another person running from the
flames came to the bridge and said, "
Wow! Someone has built a bridge that I might escape
from these flames" He did not wait for one
minute, but ran across the bridge as fast as his
legs could carry him and was saved from the flames
and lived happily ever after. |

|
| This story is a lot like what the
Holy Bible says about man's need for salvation.
The gap between the cities is like what is said in Isaiah
59:2 But your iniquities have separated
between you and your God, any your sins have hid His
face from you, that he will not hear. |

|
| The city on fire is like what the
bible talks about when it says in Romans
6:23 "The wages of sin is DEATH
And the rest of that verse talks about the
BEAUTIFUL CITY , but the gift
of God is ETERNAL LIFE through Jesus Christ
our Lord."
And of course the BRIDGE is mentioned in many
places in the Bible, John
5:24, "Verily, verily I say unto you, He that
hears my word and believes on Him that sent me has
everlasting life and shall not be condemned, but is
passed from death unto life." And my
favorite John 3:16
"For God so loved the world that He gave his
only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him
should not perish, but have everlasting life."

| The person that tries to do it
himself fails because Jesus says in John14:6,
"I am the way, the truth, and the life: no
man cometh unto the Father, but by me."
and in Ephesians 2:8-9
we find this verse, For by
grace are ye saved through faith, and that not of
yourselves: It is the gift of God: Not of
works, lest any man should boast. And
in Romans 3:23 we
find "For all have
sinned and come short of the glory of God."
We cannot be good enough to earn our way to
heaven. |

| When Jesus died on the cross and
shed his perfect, sinless blood he made that bridge
to Heaven for you. To cross this bridge you
simply claim the promises of God. In Romans
10: 9-10 we are told: That
if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord
Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God
hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
and in verse 13.
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord
shall be saved.
Becoming a real Christian never occurs
accidentally. It is something you must decide on
purpose for yourself. It is the most important
decision you have to make in life. If you agree that
you are a sinner and realize that Jesus has paid the
"full penalty" for your sins, then you now
must receive Him as your personal Savior and Lord.
You can do this by sincerely praying the following
prayer of salvation:
Heavenly
Father, I confess that I am a sinner. I
thank you for sending Your Son to pay the
full penalty for my sin. I do now by
faith, receive the Lord Jesus Christ as my
personal Savior. Cleanse me with His
blood, make me Your child and fill me with
Your Holy Spirit.
Thank you for hearing and answering my
prayer, --- In Jesus' name...Amen |
